Cummins diesel engine air system maintenance

Culture

Every gallon of fuel burned by a diesel engine requires hundreds of gallons of air. In order for the engine to work effectively, it must be ensured that the engine is inhaled smoothly, and the intake and exhaust systems must not be blocked. Inhaled air must pass through the air filter. Depending on the application of the engine, the air filter can be mounted on the engine or on the work machine, and can be an oil bath, paper filter or integrated filter. Air from the air filter enters directly into the intake manifold or turbocharger. The NTA intercooler aftercooler (sometimes also referred to as an intercooler, or intercooler for short) is a device that is installed in the engine's air intake system to reduce intake air temperature and/or preheat incoming air. The intercooler consists of a shell and an inner core. The intercooler shell serves as an engine intake manifold.
